| Canine Good Citizen Program |
"A Canine Good Citizen is a dog who makes his owner happy and doesn't make his neighbors unhappy."
My classes will prepare you and your dog for the AKC Canine Good Citizen test, and many of my canine students have gone on to become therapy dogs or earn obedience, agility, conformation and hunting titles. But more importantly, they will prepare you and your dog for Real Life!
The AKC states that "the Canine Good Citizen Test is a certification program that tests dogs in simulated everyday situations in a relaxed, non-competitive atmosphere."
It is very much like walking your dog in a neighborhood or park setting, where there are people to greet (or not greet), other dogs to ignore, and some surprises a well-trained dog has learned to take in stride.
The dog is evaluated on a pass/fail basis. The dog must pass all 10 exercises of the test.
